Kat Doerr

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER & FOUNDER

Katherine (Kat) Doerr is the founder of Goldfinch, and currently holds the position of CEO for both Goldfinch Environmental and Goldfinch X. Miss Doerr brings over 10 years of commodity and asset development experience to Goldfinch, and began her career at Karbone working in renewable energy credit and carbon offset brokerage in New York, New York.

After Karbone, Miss. Doerr worked in Amsterdam, the Netherlands at STX B.V. as the Head of U.S. Renewables. After STX Miss. Doerr founded Goldfinch Environmental, and was brought on as a consultant and originator at the Power Resource Group, LLC (“PRG”), a private developer for animal waste to energy plants in North America. At PRG Miss. Doerr originated numerous energy facilities valued at over 40-million-dollar capital investments each. After the successful commercial completion of PRG’s first facility Miss. Doerr joined Freepoint as a consultant for pyrolysis plant development.

Today Miss. Doerr is simultaneously developing numerous MSW sorting facilities, and structuring long term plastic supply agreements, throughout North America on behalf of Goldfinch. Miss. Doerr attended Temple University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Economics and Environmental Policy.

Patrick Wade

CHIEF STRATEGY OFFICER & PARTNER

Patrick is a Managing Partner of CarboNexus LLC, which makes early-stage investments in decarbonization and resource recovery platforms. Prior to forming CarboNexus in 2021, he was Managing Partner of Starboard Star Venture Capital, providing early-stage capital to entrepreneurial management teams.

Prior to forming Starboard Star in 2018, Patrick spent 25 years in the energy sector. From 2008-2018, he served as Managing Director of the Energy & Minerals Group where his primary focus was making direct investments across the natural resources industry. During that period, he served on the Board of Directors of MarkWest Liberty, NGL Energy Partners, Medallion Midstream, Ferus Inc., Lodestar Energy, and High Sierra Energy.

Prior to joining EMG, Patrick and a group of former colleagues started Bear Energy, LP, where he served as Managing Director from 2005- 2008, From 2003-2005, he was the co-founder and Managing Partner of Tiger Midstream, which developed natural gas pipelines and evaluated over $1 billion in energy midstream investment opportunities. Prior to forming Tiger Midstream, Patrick worked at Calpine Corporation from 2001-2002, and at Houston Pipeline Company from 1995-2000, where he performed a variety of commercial and managerial roles before leading and completing the $727 million sale of HPL to American Electric Power Company.

Patrick received an MBA from the Rice University Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business and a B.A. from the University of Oklahoma.

Jeff Spinner

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER & PARTNER

Jeff is a Managing Partner of CarboNexus LLC, which makes early-stage investments in decarbonization and resource recovery platforms. Prior to forming CarboNexus in 2021, he was a Principal at Energy Capital Partners (ECP), focusing on origination and execution of midstream infrastructure investments.

During his 14 years with ECP, he conducted due diligence, executed, monitored and exited investments across all focus-areas of the firm, including power generation (fossil & renewable), midstream infrastructure and environmental infrastructure. In addition to being a member of the Compliance/ESG Committee, Jeff was a Director of Cardinal Gas Storage, Summit Midstream Partners, Sendero Midstream Partners and Next Wave Energy Partners.

Prior to joining ECP in 2006, Jeff worked in the Natural Resources Investment Banking Group at Banc of America Securities in Houston. While at Banc of America, Mr. Spinner worked on mergers and acquisitions and equity and debt financings for refining, marketing and oilfield services companies. Jeff received a B.S. in Economics from Duke University.
